What a day!

January 19, 2010 was one of those days when a busy mom wishes she could blink her eyes and be cloned. Sometimes it would be so nice to have 2 of me-- I think I would have a "Work Jan" and a "Mom Jan". Would someone please get working on that?! Anyway, Ian and Ella both had big events and of course they fell on the same day, and a day Rob couldn't help. We did make it through the day, with Ga-ga's help, of course.
First, Ian was chosen as "Star Student" in his Kindergarten class. He had been looking forward to his turn since the first week of school. His time had "FINALLY" come (as he put it) and he was ready! We filled out his poster together and I got to go to school with him to talk about how great he is. There was much debate as to what treat he wanted to take, but we finally settled on his favorite, Oreo Cookies. The best part of the presentation was when Ian shared his favorite joke--"What did the right eye say to the left eye?"--"Between you and me, something smells!" He got a couple of laughs (mostly from his teacher). But seriously folks...He'll be here all week! Later that week, Ian also got to bring home the class pet, Elle the Elephant. He took some pictures and made a page in the class book of her time with our family--Very fun!

Ella's big event was for Early Intervention. She was a "model" for a presentation on pressure suits for the EI staff. Her therapists wanted to see if the suits would help with her balance and sensory integration issues. We were a little nervous because she usually doesn't do well with large groups of people, especially when they are looking at her or making noise of any kind. However, she surprised all of us! She walked right into the middle of the room and did everything her therapists needed her to do. She put on the "super suit" (as we like to call it) and was as cute as a button. All she needed was a tu-tu and she would have been a beautiful ballerina on stage:) I'm afraid that she'll hate me for taking these pictures some day...
